Day 5, 2nd flying day

Not a great day for the Aussies but at least we made it home, lots of them didn't. Matt and I waited too long to start waiting for strengthening conditions but conditions progressed steadily worse as we made our way around the task. Across the border into Germany and Matt found a very slow spot where I eventually got back to him. We then struggled on further just touching the last AAT sector without any water onboard now and slowly headed for home well under glide and not very high above tricky terrain. Eventually we managed to climb up to a slow glide and flew home in  smooth air.

The early starters that made the right tactical decisions were the ones who managed to crack 100kph. Waiting could have paid off for if conditions did strengthen like some of the previous days how ever with the weather system we had we were not to know.

Was a good day for learning and today we have a racing task in the blue so it maybe a day to hold off a little more to see what the more experienced guys do or even just go for it if the Euros get scared ;)

Here's a count the gliders game for you..
(There are way more than you will be able see with the camera resolution)
