5 August, from the crew dude

G'day all!

Well, this'd be nominally Day 9 of the comp (I think) but Standard's flown only 4 days, and Club only 3.  They mentioned on their website that in the event that if the last available flying day was only the fourth actual day then the closing ceremony would be deferred, or some such, thus implying that several days could be lost to weather.

So we've lost quite a few so far.  Perhaps this is quite normal for around here.

Yesterday's forecast for the night was for thunderstorms, rain, hail and strong winds.  What we got was a light sprinkle (at least, I think that was all we got, I dropped off back to sleep halfway through it :-) ).

Today should be clear.  Don't know what Cu's will form.

We have to rig, debug, ballast and tape-up the glider.  And then briefing at the usual 1000 followed by gridding.

To grid, we have to go through the weighing point.  So far we've been OK, and we know exactly how much ballast to add.

Oh, and I'm starting to run out of interesting pictures to post :-)

More later.  Stand by!

  2. Yes. Glider porn is better than no pictures at all!
