It's been hectic over the last day!
Task start was much earlier today as the weather was expected to co-operate. First launch was scheduled for 1130.
This got delayed a few times, and I think Task B was then used, and finally they were away (first launch 1220 or something I think).
Everyone got back yesterday (well, all the Aussies) but they reported that conditions got real soft on the third and last legs. This caused them to lose speed and shot them down in the ranks a bit. In fact a total of 14 pilots appeared to have outlanded.
Meantime Beryl, Claire and Matt's crewman Chris were flat out organising the Aussies' input to the International night (while I got on with a whole pile of admin stuff).
Then there was the International Night itself, where every nation put on a bit of a spread appropriate to their customs - both food and drink. I ended up with a go at a few really potent brews, which may have contributed to my hamming it up a bit oon the Aussie stand later on. meantime I hear tell that the Aussies put on the best spread, we had billions of sausages (which I suspect were really Polish sausages!), quite a lot of salad and bread to go with them, and sauce and mustard. Followed by Fantales and Minties of course. No shrimps on the barbie though, (Or Fosters.) Apparently the Brits are going to cook up all our leftovers tonight and we're partaking of that.
So I had a shot of vodka (something different!) and some really potent stuff made from plums that the Hungarians put on, and the Swiss had something else as well including lots of chocolate stuff. I suspect the Italians put on pasta but I didn't get around to having any unfortunately, Oh, and the Brits had Yorkshire pudding.
The great thing about the evening was that no one seemed to care who was from what nation, everyone there was a glider pilot or associated with glider pilots and that was all that mattered. A fantastic evening all round.
Here are some pictures (there should be around 16 of them but not sure if the blogger has included them all).
Cheers!
